The AfD tramples on human dignity and is a concrete danger to the lives of all people who do not fit into its world view. We have known this for a long time. Now the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has also classified the AfD as definitely right-wing extremist.

With its racist and anti-immigration positions, the AfD is driving other parties forward. It is thus making a significant contribution to a shift to the right in politics and is a key driver of violence. The AfD has demonstrated its contempt for democratic institutions often enough. Developments in the USA and Hungary, and even more so our own historical experience, show that we must not stand by and wait: We must not stand by and wait until right-wing extremists come to power themselves and lay hands on democracy and fundamental rights.

The AfD can and must be stopped by banning the party. This requires pressure from us now! We expect the Bundestag, Bundesrat and the new federal government to fulfill their responsibility and initiate a ban procedure at the Federal Constitutional Court.

We are aware that a party ban alone will not lead to the disappearance of the AfD's positions in society. This is and remains essentially the task of political debate with a clear anti-fascist stance - whether in parliament or on the street, whether at work or among friends and acquaintances.

That is why we are calling for nationwide protests on Sunday, May 11, 2025, together with broad civil society alliances. Together we stand up for the human dignity of all.
