Being active is a must! - Together against the shift to the right

Under the title “Perspectives against the shift to the right”, the “Omas gegen Rechts” and the “Vernetzungstreffen gegen Rechts” of Naturfreunde Nürnberg Mitte are organizing a panel discussion and a concert on 23 May 2025

The right-wing trend is progressing. The good news: more than six million people have been protesting against the right since 2024. The bad news: they have not been able to prevent the right-wing trend. In some municipalities, the “firewall” to the AfD has long since been torn down. Chancellor-designate Merz made a pact with the AfD before the election, while CDU/CSU politicians see it as a “normal” opposition party. There are frontal attacks against “grannies against the right” and other organizations. The “center” is slipping menacingly further to the right towards misanthropic conditions.

Where is the shift to the right visible?

We want to know how this shift to the right manifests itself in concrete terms. Right-wing slogans in the workplace, right-wing agitation, racism, intimidation, discrimination of all kinds, experiences of violence: where and in what form are we confronted with right-wing thinking and actions? And: How can we counter this massive attack on democracy? What can resistance look like?

Resistance is possible!

To this end, “Omas gegen Rechts” and the “Vernetzungstreffen gegen Rechts” (Networking Meeting against the Right) of Naturefriends Nuremberg Central are organizing a panel discussion on 23 May under the motto “Active is a must!” Uli Büscher, spokesperson for the Naturefriends initiative: “We want to highlight different perspectives and initiatives and have been able to attract four interesting guests.” They are:

• Marcel from “Make Some Noise” from Sonneberg, an initiative that helps to maintain alternative (sub)culture in a hostile environment in the AfD stronghold of Thuringia
• Eylem from DIDIF, a migrant left-wing self-organization
• Campaign “AfD ban now!” of the local group Metropolregion Nürnberg
• Roman from “Verein zur Bewahrung der Demokratie”, an initiative of IG-Metall against right-wing activities in companies

Afterwards, singer-songwriter Trubartic will play songs against misanthropy as part of his “Never again is now!” tour. On his tour against fascism, Trubartic stands up against all forms of misanthropy. Admission is free, but a hat goes around.
