Comprehensive scientific report by the GFF proves: The AfD is unconstitutional and can be banned!

Published on Thu, 6/25/2026

It has now been scientifically confirmed: The AfD can be banned because it is clearly unconstitutional. In an expert report spanning over 1,500 pages—based on an analysis of more than three million data points—the Society for Civil Rights (GFF) demonstrates, according to the strictest legal criteria, that the party is unconstitutional. According to the report, the AfD systematically violates the guarantee of human dignity and the principle of democracy. These are two of the three pillars of the free democratic basic order. A party that systematically attacks even one of these principles is already unconstitutional and must therefore be banned pursuant to Article 21, Paragraph 2 of the Basic Law. The AfD is thus “clearly unconstitutional” (GFF).

At the press conference marking the release of the expert opinion, Prof. Dr. Dana-Sophia Valentiner, Executive Director of the GFF, made it clear: “No matter which side of the ban debate one is on, one can no longer rely on the argument that a ban would have no chance of success.”

Politically independent and free from any government funding, the GFF’s expert opinion demonstrates that proceedings to ban the AfD before the Federal Constitutional Court would have a very high likelihood of success. Numerous politicians have stated that this is a prerequisite for initiating such proceedings. This now places an even more urgent responsibility on the government bodies authorized to file the petition—the Bundestag, the Bundesrat, and the Federal Government—as well as on each individual member of parliament. At the same time, the GFF’s expert opinion provides a comprehensive factual basis for the justified initiation of such proceedings.

“With the GFF’s expert opinion, we have it in black and white: The AfD can and must—on legal grounds—be banned because it is unconstitutional. Politicians have no more excuses! This is not about political differences of opinion, but about the protection of fundamental human rights and our democracy. That is why the Bundestag, the Bundesrat, and the federal government must immediately initiate proceedings to ban the AfD,” says Felix Jochim, press spokesperson for the campaign “Defend Human Dignity – Ban the AfD Now!”
