Information stand of the campaign “AfD ban now!”, Erlangen Schlossplatz, Sun 8.6.2025, 10 am - 1 pm

"AfD ban now! We demand consistency from the Conference of Interior Ministers!"

On the occasion of the Conference of Interior Ministers, which will take place in Bremerhaven from June 11 to 13, 2025, the local group Metropolregion Nürnberg of the campaign “Defend human dignity - ban AfD now!” in cooperation with the “Omas gegen Rechts Erlangen Mittelfranken” is organizing an information stand on Sunday, June 8 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Schlossplatz in Erlangen. There we would like to talk to people about why the initiation of a ban procedure against the AfD is long overdue: The AfD is an extreme right-wing party that links human dignity to nationality and origin, poisons the mood in our country and systematically works to impair democracy and the rule of law. In view of the frightening amount of power that this anti-democratic party has now achieved, it fulfills exactly the criteria that the Basic Law has set for the instrument of a party ban. In terms of the tolerance paradox, banning a party in a democracy is always a problematic act, but in a case like that of the AfD, it is also a necessary one in order to protect the dignity of our democracy and millions of people in Germany.

As a lot of misinformation is being spread in the public debate about the ban procedure, many people are uncertain about this issue. The information stand is therefore intended to provide an opportunity for a well-founded exchange of arguments and to provide solid information about the ban procedure. At the same time, the demand for the immediate initiation of the procedure explicitly addresses the interior ministers of the federal and state governments, who are largely responsible for internal security in Germany. It must finally become clear: The AfD is the greatest risk to our country's internal security. The Bundestag, Bundesrat and Federal Government must respond to this with the utmost determination. The interior ministers can not only exert a decisive influence on their respective state governments - their word also carries enormous weight in the public debate. For this reason, there will be a postcard campaign at the information stand, where participants can send their individual demands for the initiation of the ban procedure directly to the Conference of Interior Ministers. The cards will then be sent to Bremerhaven and presented at the conference venue. We demand a strong signal from our interior ministers!
